Bern City Council 4.11.17

Submitted by Yvonne Krehbiel, Bern City Clerk

The Bern City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, April 11. In attendance were Mayor Eldon Kaster, council members Tim Miller, Dan Stallbaumer, Carla Meyer, Dallas Wood, treasurer Bill Sheik and clerk Yvonne Krehbiel.

City water and sewer are operating properly. CJ Foods inspected the designated line servicing the industrial pretreatment wastewater facility.

The community building board keeps the building in lovely shape. A recent improvement was made to the concrete in front of the building.

Concrete streets in town have some joints coming loose, and caulk is no longer in place. The council will consider either hot tar or caulk will to be used to reseal the joints.

Since the park was redone approximately 10 years ago, Bob Hecht has donated his time each spring to make the park lawn vibrant. The city and community appreciate Hecht’s time and energy.

Though the winter was not heavy with snow, the city certainly appreciates anyone who helped move the snow that did fall.

A dumpster will again be placed in the parking lot to the east of the park for the purpose of park trash.

The city has signed a contract with Last Mile Communications, granting the company access to the water tower for antenna positioning. In exchange, Last Mile will provide service to some public areas in the city. The city does not have information on when the new provider for internet service will begin providing service.

New Christmas decorations will not be purchased this year.
