Prairie Hills USD No. 113 Board of Education

The Prairie Hills USD No. 113 Board of Education met in special session on Thursday, July 20. Board members present included Ed Reznicek, Dr. Jeff DeMint, Kent Saylor, Kathy Lippert, Jim Scoby, Leslie Scoby and Kent Kuckelman. Also present were Superintendent Todd Evans, Board Clerk Carol Kuckelman and Brian Jordan representing KASB Leadership Services.
Jordan gave the board Kansas Open Meeting Act (KOMA) training.
Jordan then led the board in Boardmanship training, which included discussing the role of the Board of Education. After his presentation, he answered questions from the board.
Evans discussed Board-Superintendent relations and what is expected of both the board and the superintendent in regards to effective communications. Evans and board members discussed the board self-evaluation.
The board reviewed the goal of Evans attending two events in each building per semester, which was accomplished in the 2017-18 school year. The board was pleased with Evans’ attendance this past year. Evans said he will continue as he had in the past.
The next regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the district office in Sabetha.
