Second annual Taco’s BBQ and Bikes scheduled
Get your motorcycles and your barbecue taste buds ready for the second annual Taco’s BBQ and Bikes. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Mary Cotton Public Library Park — rain or shine.
The event, sponsored by Taco’s Boys BBQ, is in its second year and features a barbecue and motorcycle contest. Taco’s Boys BBQ is comprised of brothers Corey, Jason and Brad Meyer and their families. The barbecue team took over the event from the Sabetha Chamber of Commerce in an effort to continue a community event for “making memories with family and friends” — the event’s slogan.
For entry into the barbecue contest, teams will pay a $50 entry fee for three categories — pork butt, ribs and chicken. Teams provide their own meat.
Barbecue judging will begin at noon. The top winners in each category will be first place, $150; second place, $100; third place, $75; fourth place, $50; and fifth place, $25. The grand champion will receive $200, and the reserve champion will receive $100.
A barbecue meal provided by Taco’s Boys BBQ will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. The meal is a free will donation and everyone is welcome until the “food runs out.”
If interested in competing in the barbecue contest, contact Corey Meyer at 785-285-1112 or Jason Meyer at 785-285-1129. If interested in the bike show, contact Ben Argabright at 785-285-0773.
