Letter: Become involved with the Greater Sabetha Community Foundation

Dear Editor,

At the October meeting of the Board of Directors of the Greater Sabetha Community Foundation, Dr. Bill Simpson was elected as the new president. Other officers elected were Dr. Jim Whittaker, vice president; Doug Clark, treasurer; and Amy Mitchell, secretary. Leslie Scoby serves as executive vice president and affiliate director. Board members include Martin Mishler, Steve Lukert, Sherry Scoby, Lafe Bailey, Loren Edelman, Marvin Kohlmeier, Lisa Kuenzi and Von Lauer. It has been my pleasure to have served as president of the Greater Sabetha Community Foundation since its inception in October 2015.

With the generosity of the Sabetha community and the leadership of these individuals, the Foundation has been successful in raising funds in support of the various not-for-profit community organizations in Sabetha and the surrounding communities.

GSCF is ably assisted in its endeavors by ambassadors who volunteer their time and talents in serving on various committees and working as needed. You can view their names on our website at sabethafoundation.org. If you desire information on how you can become involved, please contact any of the board members listed above.

An important date is rapidly approaching on the GSCF calendar. On Friday, Nov. 24, from midnight to 11:59 p.m., GSCF will hold the Second annual Give to Grow Match Day.

Last year, with $25,000 matching funds, individuals donated $107,813,33 for a grand total of $132,813.33. We expect to exceed that total this year. For more information concerning this special day, please go to our website and click on Give to Grow Match Day.

If you are interested and excited about becoming involved with GSCF, please feel free to attend our monthly meeting. Meetings are held at noon on the second Tuesday of each month.

Von Lauer
Past President, GSCF
