Area musicians perform at Bern Fall Festival Musical Concert and Variety Show
A number of local and area musicians performed during the Bern Fall Festival Musical Concert and Variety Show held Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Bern School Activity Complex in Bern.
The Bern AC Men’s Chorus, directed by Michael Strahm, performed four pieces — “Our God is Alive,” “Blessed Redeemer,” “In Christ Alone” and “The Star Spangled Banner.”
The Town and Country String Ensemble, directed by Anne Moser, performed four pieces — “Just As I Am Without One Plea,” “Rondo – Valse,” “Danza Cubana” and “Rock-a My Soul.” Members of the ensemble include Sarah Scoby on cello, Anne Moser on violin and clarinet, and Hannah Simpson, Audrey Simpson, Lizzie Schuetz and Susanna Whittaker on violin.
Piano solos included “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” by Stephanie Plattner, “Claire de Lune” by Helen Krehbiel,” and “Root Beer Rag” by Lizzie Schutz. Dallas Lee performed “Medley of Folk Songs” on Indian Flute.
Kayla Sudbeck performed three pieces with voice, guitar and piano — “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone,” “Jar of Hearts” and “Ten Thousand Reasons.” “The Swan” was performed by Sarah Scoby on cello and Helen Krehbiel on piano.
The concert was sponsored by the Bern School Activity Complex Board, comprising Anne Moser, Connie Hecht, Jay Baumgartner and George Wykert; as well as volunteers on the action team — Stephanie Plattner, Kayla Sudbeck, Beverly Montgomery, Debby Meyer, James Moser, Bob Hecht, Matt Baumgartner, Gabe Meyer, Ralph and Uvonna Bucher and Lori Wilson.
Following the concert, the Bern Fall Festival was held.
