Court Updates: Child Solicitation
A St. Joseph, Mo., man who has been charged with felony electronic solicitation of a child entered a not guilty plea when he appeared in court last week.
William Buehler, 69, plead not guilty to the charge of electronic solicitation of a child when he appeared in a Brown County Courtroom Monday, Dec. 4. He is now set for a pre-trial hearing on Monday, Jan. 8.
Buehler was arrested Monday, July 10, by the Hiawatha Police Department. His arrest followed an investigation that alleges between May 1 and July 10 Buehler was involved in communications through the internet to commit or submit to an unlawful sex act with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill said Buehler was actually communicating with undercover officer with the Hiawatha Police Department’s cyber crime unit.
Hill said that when Buehler arrived in Hiawatha to meet the supposed 14-year-old girl, he was met by Hiawatha police officers and arrested.
He remains in the Brown County Jail on $150,000 bond.
