Obituary: Arlene Esslinger
Arlene Emma (Mogler) Esslinger, 92, of Sabetha, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1925, in Lester, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Tillie (Gerber) Mogler, where she was the oldest of 14 children. She was united in marriage to Martin Dale Esslinger on Aug. 22, 1948. They resided in Bern, where they raised eight children.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Martin; two sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are her five daughters, Marlene of Morton, Ill., Linda of Sabetha, Diane (Ron) Smith of Desoto, Wanda (Joe) Guerra of Phoenix, Ariz., and Bonnie (Ron) Burke of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sons, Lee (Patsy) of Hanna City, Ill., Denny (Gerty) of Hanna City, Ill., and Dan (Karen) of Richmond, Ken.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Apostolic Christian Church of Bern. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday Dec. 15, at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bern Apostolic Christian Church or AC LifePoints, 2125 Veterans Road, Morton, IL 61550, sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
