4-H Club: Busy Jayhawkers

Tom Strahm tells the members a story filled with the key words “left” and “right” while the presents were passed around the circle accordingly.

The regular monthly meeting of the Busy Jayhawkers was called to order by Club President Cheyan Rokey at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18. The meeting was preceded by caroling at the Apostolic Christian Home at 6:30 p.m., instead of the usual project meeting.

The food pantry item of the month was vegetable oil. Pledge leaders were Brody Deters and Holden Edelman. Roll call was answered by “Hobby I Have.”

Minutes of the previous meeting were written up and read off by secretary Kortney Plattner. Vivian Strahm, our treasurer, updated us on the budget, and Shayna Strahm gave the reporter’s report.

Sue Rokey updated us on upcoming 4-H events, including talking about details of 4-H days. Information can be found on the 4-H club days on the Meadowlark District website. Members are reminded that CIA registration is due by Jan. 15, 2018.

On Thursday, Dec. 28, there is a project fair in Seneca at the extension office. Members are encouraged to sign up for different “classes” or “modules.” It isn’t required that you are signed up in that project area, and is a good way to explore different project areas.

Molly Edelman and Roman Geyer celebrated birthdays. The meeting was followed by the annual Christmas game and gift exchange.
