Wetmore’s Elementary students made sure that Christmas was celebrated in a big way at their Winter Concert on Monday night, Dec. 18.
The fifth- and sixth-grade band heralded in the season with five songs. “Jingle Bells,” “Up On a Housetop” and “A Mozart Melody” were especially audience pleasers.
Next came the kindergarten class offering “Six Little Ducks” and “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,” followed by the first graders singing “Baby Beluga” and “Up On a Housetop.”
Not to be outdone, the second graders presented their two songs, “Billy” and “The Eight Days of Hanukkah.” The songs “Something for Me, Something for You” and “December Lights, December Lights” were submitted by the third- and fourth-grade choirs. The audience was then treated with the fifth and sixth graders singing “Uncle Pen” and the classic “Winter Wonderland. “
The concert came to a close with kindergarten through sixth grades singing the traditional “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” Of course, the highlight of the evening was the arrival of Santa Claus, who visited with the children and posed for photos.
“I was very pleased with the concert,” said director Seth Stiers. “The kids were really wanting to make this concert special, and they succeeded.”
