Minister Speaks: See you later!
Greetings to you! As you read this article, I will be starting my new assignment in Sacred Heart of Mound City, Kan., as well as in two other churches called St. Philip Neri of Osawatomie and Our Lady of Lourdes of La Cygne. My assignment starts Jan. 1.
I was blessed to be in Sacred Heart of Sabetha, St. Augustine of Fidelity, and St. James of Wetmore for the past 4-1/2 years.
The recent tragedy that took place in our area and the following response of support from the communities reminded me of what a wonderful area this is in which to live. Those within the community pulled together, as well as communities from nearby areas.
To name some of the support was the incredible crowds of support at the services and also at sporting events. Fundraisers for the family also have been wonderful. There is also other support that happens that goes unnoticed, but it is still none the less significant and helpful.
Seeing the outpouring of love and support in such a difficult time didn’t, of course, take away the hurt, but hopefully made it a little more bearable. The communities I’m sure will support each other as time continues on. It won’t be the same, but there is hope in God that all the community support really points us toward.
I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the friendly welcome to me as I came to the community really not knowing hardly anyone. I was certainly glad to get to know those in my church communities, and also others throughout the community.
I came to know a friendly wave or hello. I came to understand that if I needed help, there would be a helping hand not far away. I came to understand that faith is certainly important in this area.
As I take this opportunity to say goodbye, I wish to not really say goodbye, but to rather say see you later. If not sooner, our faith in Jesus Christ gives us that wonderful promise of heaven. So, if not sooner, see you later! God bless, Father Clayton.
