Minister Speaks: The divine trinity in the believer
Personally, I love the wonderful doctrine of God’s divine Trinity. I cannot fully comprehend its profound truth, but nonetheless, I accept it and believe it with all my heart. The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is one of the cardinal truths of God’s Holy Word, the Bible and of Christianity.
Our Lord Jesus Himself said in John 14:17, “But you know Him (Holy Spirit), for He lives with you and will be in you.”
When Jesus returned to Heaven at His ascension, He sent His Holy Spirit to indwell His believers to guarantee their eternal salvation. Paul spoke this truth in Ephesians 1:13-14 “the promised Holy Spirit, Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession-to the praise of His Glory!”
Many Christians readily accept this truth about God’s Divine Spirit. But, in my humble opinion many Christians do not understand or appreciate that not only does God’s Holy Spirit live in a believer but the other two Persons of the Divine Godhead also reside in a Christian’s heart.
Jesus Himself said in John 14:23, “If anyone loves Me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will love him and WE will come to him and make OUR home with him.”
Later in John 17:23, Jesus expounded on this truth by saying, “I in them and You (Father) in ME.”
There was only one occasion when the three Persons of the Trinity were separated and that was when Jesus, our Savior, died on the cruel Roman cross. Jesus painfully uttered these words, “My God, My God why have you forsaken Me?”
There has never been another time when The Trinity was separated. So even today the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit live together in the hearts and lives of every single child of God.
For me that is a very profound and humbling truth, God’s wonderful and beautiful Trinity in my Heart, my soul and my spirit.
I sincerely hope and pray that God will enable you to understand and appreciate this awesome doctrine and express in prayer your humble gratitude!
