Nemaha County Democrats to meet
Submitted by JoLene Bloom
The Nemaha County Democrats will be meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Seneca City Library at Sixth and Main. Any registered Democrat is welcome to attend and participate in this important election year.
On the agenda is the intent to encourage those, 18 years of age prior to the Nov. 6 election, either to register to vote prior to July 17 for the Aug. 7 primary or to register by Oct. 16 for the general election on Nov. 6. An individual can register early for either voting opportunity as long as he or she is 18 at the time of the election for which he or she is registering. Registration is available at the Nemaha County Courthouse in Seneca and when gaining a driver’s license.
The agenda includes the finalizing of a budget, approval of a yearly calendar, and reflections of 2017 activities such as the mission statement; the end of the year dinner with guest Paul Davis of Lawrence, candidate for the Second Congressional District, U.S. House of Representatives; and a summary of the Kansas Ethics Commission report.
The group is preparing a cookbook that will be available later in the spring. The invitations and events to bring announced Democratic office seekers to Nemaha County prior to the June 1 filing date for candidates and committee men and women are issues of discussion, as well as an activity in June and September to hear the Democratic candidates prior to the primary and general elections.
The Nemaha County Democrats are an inclusive, informed, and civil group to improve citizenship, conditions and economics in the area. If you have questions, please contact County Chair JoLene Rae Bloom, email@example.com, Seneca; or officers Don Honig of Onaga, and Lois Kuckelman of Axtell.
