Court Updates: Child Solicitation
A St. Joseph, Mo., man who has been charged with felony electronic solicitation is scheduled for an additional pre-trial hearing at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7.
William Buehler, 69, entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of electronic solicitation of a child in December 2017.
Buehler was charged with electronic solicitation of a child after he was arrested in July of 2017 by the Hiawatha Police Department. It is alleged that between May 1, 2017 and July 10, 2017, Buehler was involved in communications through the internet to commit or submit to an unlawful sex act with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill said Buehler was actually communicating with undercover officer with the Hiawatha Police Department’s cyber crime unit. Hill said that when Buehler arrived in Hiawatha to meet the supposed 14-year-old girl, he was met by Hiawatha police officers and arrested.
Buehler remains in the Brown County Jail on $150,000 bond.
