ARRESTS

Michael Sauer, 49, of Seneca was arrested on Jan. 10 by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office (NMSO) for the offenses of domestic battery, aggravated domestic battery and criminal restraint. Sauer was released on Jan. 11 on $5,000 surety bond with a court date of 2 p.m. on Jan. 16.

Casey Eastman was released on Jan. 14 to Prison Transportation Services for transport to Indiana.

Cortez J. White Sr., 37, of Sabetha was arrested on Jan. 14 by the Sabetha Police Department for the offense of domestic battery. He remains in custody.

Nicolas Mora was released from custody on Jan. 16.

ACCIDENTS

At 8:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, Thomas Agosta, 57, of Seneca backed into a parked vehicle at 896 U.S. Highway 36. Agosta was driving a 1983 Chevy Pickup. Damage was listed at more than $1,000.

At 5:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, Carroll C. Plattner, 69, of Sabetha was traveling eastbound on Kansas Highway 71 and slowing to turn into a private drive approximately 0.3 mile west of O Road. Trevor Guffy was traveling eastbound behind Plattner and struck his vehicle in the rear. Plattner was driving a 2001 Buick LeSabre, and Guffey was driving a 2008 Suzuki four-door. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

At 5:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, Damon R. Koch, 15, of Axtell was traveling northbound on D Road when he met a southbound vehicle approximately 0.1 mile north of 176th Road. Koch got to the side of the road and drove into some snow, which caused his vehicle to slide off the roadway and strike a pole. He was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

REPORTED CRIMES / INCIDENT RESPONSES

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the NMSO received a report of a burglary at 1425 U.S. Highway 36 in Seneca. Sometime between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. on Jan. 10, an unknown person(s) entered the residence and took multiple items including jewelry, electronics, credit cards and coins. Loss is estimated at $5,800. Investigation is ongoing at this time.
