Second annual Chili and Cinnamon Roll Cook-off to be held
Submitted by Travis McCoy
Food for a cold day will be the focus of the Albany Historical Society’s second annual Chili and Cinnamon Roll Cook-off. The event will be held at the Main Event in Sabetha on Feb. 17. The Albany group encourages anyone who has chili or cinnamon roll recipes to register and compete at the event.
The entry fee for a pot of chili or 9×13 pan of cinnamon rolls is $10. Chili registration starts at noon, and cooking will take place at The Main Event utilizing the kitchen and other facilities. Cinnamon Rolls can be baked at home, but must be brought in for registration by 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17.
There will be two chili classes — mild and firehouse style. Both of these classes will be judged by pre-selected judges and given a ranking. Everyone who comes to eat can also vote for People’s Choice. Trophies will be awarded to first place in each class.
Everyone is encouraged to come eat and participate in the voting for People’s choice. Free will donation will be taken at the door and used to fund improvements at the Museum. Tasting and voting will begin at 5:30 p.m., so bring your appetite and your opinion!
