Brey earns Second Team ALL KCAC honors, Champion of Character

Fairview native Nicole Brey earned multiple individual honors at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Cheer Championships after the Ottawa University cheer team claimed first on Friday, Feb. 16, in Tabor Gymnasium.
The OU cheer team captured the 2018 KCAC Cheer Championship after finishing with 79.93 points — their second highest total of the season. They defeated Bethel College with 75.76 points, Tabor College with 70.7 points, Kansas Wesleyan University with 66.7 points, McPherson College with 52.3 and Friends University with 45.23 points.
Brey was named the OU cheer team’s champion of character. She also earned Second Team All-KCAC with teammates Callee Sprew and Isabellea Terrill
OU had seven student athletes earn All-KCAC honors at the championships. Earning Second Team All-KCAC honors were Brey, Callee Sprew and Isabella Terrill. Shelby Northcutt and Macy Gosselaar were Honorable Mention selections. Adriana Skipper and Ashlyn Nix earned First Team honors.
OU will compete at the NCA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 4-7.
Brey is the daughter of Roger and Elizabeth Brey. She is a sophomore who is majoring in elementary education and English. She is also in the OU Top Scholars Program, where she has maintained a 4.0 GPA since she enrolled at OU.
