LDI-Sabetha closes doors
Near the end of February, eight employees at Sabetha’s Lang Diesel location were told operations would no longer continue in Sabetha, as the decision had been made to consolidate the Sabetha and Topeka operations.
Shelly Macumber, marketing administrator for Lang Diesel Inc., said the decision to consolidate was made on Feb. 1, 2018.
“As many of you have noticed with the current ag economy, there have been consolidations within the ag network of most dealers and manufacturers,” Macumber said. “In order to adapt to the current conditions, LDI has made the decision to consolidate the Sabetha and Topeka operations and will announce a new location in the future.”
Macumber said that operations currently have been moved to the Topeka facility, but long term plans are to establish a different facility and location “to elevate the customer service for the territory.”
Those eight Sabetha LDI employees were “encouraged to apply for positions at the Topeka location prior to closing, as we work out plans to provide remote parts and service in the Sabetha area.”
Four of the eight employees are still employed at LDI, now at the Topeka location.
The LDI facility in Sabetha included buildings and property on Old Highway 75 just north of the Main Street junction. Macumber said these buildings and property will be put up for sale in the near future.
