Reader encourages citizens to attend meetings

Dear Editor:

School shootings, teenage suicides and continual drug busts, what is happening to our American society? Are stronger locks and armed guards going to be the answer to school safety?

What has changed in our culture in the last 80 years or so that has changed our society to such an extent that it was O.K. for a school boy to bring his gun to school, to today when we can’t even enter the courthouse to pay our taxes without being searched for fear someone may be carrying a gun?

I recently read a quote by George Washington that said, “Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains taken to bring it to light.”

To help determine the truth, we will provide videos of interviews of university professors and science majors to determine the evidence for Darwinian evolution and also a lecture by a writer of biology text books. Then a lecture on what difference does it make what you believe. Finally whose agenda have we been following? Three nights, less than two hours per night, that could change the course of your and your family’s life forever?

Thomas Jefferson said, “If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.”

So whether you are a student, parent, pastor, teacher or citizen, be informed. We would like to see you Thursday, April 5th, 12th and 19th at 7 p.m. in the basement meeting room at the Hiawatha Public Library.
