Bluejays claim first at Nemaha Central

After claiming first at their home meet earlier in the week, the Sabetha Bluejay varsity golf team traveled to Seneca for the Nemaha Central Invitational on Thursday, April 12. The Bluejays would bring home another first place medal — defeating second place team, Wamego, by 21 strokes.

Sabetha finished in first with a score of 309. Other team placings and scores were as follows: Wamego, second, 330; Cornerstone, third, 332; Frankfort, fourth, 351; Holton, fifth, 365; Nemaha Central, sixth, 366; Maur Hill, seventh, 389; Valley Heights, eighth, 390; Washington County, ninth, 425; Centralia, 10th, 428; St. Mary’s, 11th, 445; Oskaloosa, 12th, 483; Atchison, 13th; Horton, 14th; and Perry, 15th.

Leading the Bluejays and claiming first in the tournament was senior Garrett Scott with a score of 70. Junior Jesse Burger placed second overall with a score of 72, senior Tanner Ukele claimed seventh with a score of 82, sophomore David Pierson earned a 13th place finish with a score of 85, sophomore Carson Ukele earned a 17th place finish with a score of 88, and freshman Riley Lierz claimed 31st with a score of 97.

The Bluejays hosted a quad on Monday, April 16. These results were not available at The Herald’s press time.
