SHS Track and Field: Nemaha Central meet not complete due to inclement weather

The Sabetha High School track and field teams were on the road to the Nemaha Central Invitational on Tuesday, May 1. Lightning caused the meet to be called early, thus no team scores were calculated and five events were not completed.

“We were fortunate enough to complete as much of the meet that we did at Nemaha Central,” said Head Coach Dave Remmers. “As we draw closer to the league meet next week, followed by Regionals and State, this is the time of year that we really need to see performances improve, and several athletes did that once again at this meet.”

Boys

The boys’ team brought home first place in the 4×800-meter relay. The team finished with a time of 8:53.76. Team members included juniors Braeden Cox and Henry Glynn, sophomore Micah Romines and freshman Kaden Dillon.

The Nemaha Central Invitational also includes junior varsity events. For the JV team, sophomore Foster Saner finished first in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet, 6 inches.

Girls

The girls’ 4×800-meter relay team also finished first with a time of 10:29.14. The team consisted of juniors Hunter Lowdermilk and Skylar McAfee, sophomore Nikole Kuenzi and freshman Hattie Lukert.
