Sabetha Chamber of Commerce 5.14.18

The Sabetha Chamber of Commerce met Monday, May 14. The meeting was called to order by the Chamber’s president, Dayra Menold. Those present were Cindy Alderfer, Brendon Garrett, Julie Burenheide, Marlene Bosworth, Caitlin Kelch and Gina Murchison.
Kelch, who represents Rainbow Communications, would like to serve on the Chamber Board. She will be taking Julie Bergman’s place.
Minutes and financial reports were approved.
The Sabetha Chamber would like to welcome one new member, 1005 Salon, formerly Ball’s Barber Shop. An Open House and Ribbon Cutting is planned for 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 8.
Bylaws: We need 85 votes to approve the changes to the bylaws. We have 49.
Chamber Brochure: The Chamber Brochure is finished. The Chamber appreciates Angie Lourance designing them.
Rodeo Theme: The theme for 2018 is “Ridin’ for the Red, White and Blue!”
Grains for Hope Academy: Grains for Hope Alumni is sponsoring an academy for students age 14 through 18. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 25 through 29, at the Glacial Hills Business Resource Center located at 913 Dakota Street. The Grains for Hope Alumni Mentors will be teaching the student how to develop good employee skills. The application is available at sabethachamber.com.
Annual Meeting: Planning is underway for the Sabetha Chamber’s Annual Meeting. The event will be held on Aug. 6. We will be taking nominations for Citizen and Business of the Year. Forms are available at sabethachamber.com. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Old Time Saturday Night: Old Time Saturday Night is scheduled for Aug. 18.
The next meeting will be held at noon Monday, June 11. We meet in the small commission room at City Hall. Everyone is invited. We encourage new, fresh ideas.
