Submitted by Marla Hathhorn Secretary
The May 17 Brown County Genealogical Society meeting was opened by President Charles Carr, with 24 members and guests present.
This month’s program was presented by Bill Speer and Bill Gilliland. They spoke on the history of the northeast Kansas towns of Muscotah, Larkinburg and Arrington. Speer and Gilliland have lived most of their lives near those towns.
The April treasurer’s report and minutes were presented. Both reports were approved.
The annual Jazz Band/Ice Cream Socials dates will be held at 7 p.m. on the following Thursdays: June 14, 21, 28 and July 12. These are held on the north side of the Brown County Courthouse in Hiawatha.
There will be no meeting on June 21, as the second ice cream social will be held that day.
The meeting adjourned, with refreshments being served by Gail Coker-Carr and Marla Hathhorn.
