Submitted by Stacy Simmer
Rainbow Communications is a member of NTCA, the Rural Broadband Association that represents over 900 independent, community based telecommunications companies through-out the United States which helps members in legislative and regulatory arenas.
The Foundation for Rural Service was established by NTCA in 1994 and is a nonprofit organization that serves communities across the United States. FRS educates the public about the benefits of a nationwide telecommunications network and promotes rural connectivity as an essential link in this network. FRS believes that rural communities — regardless of their size or location — deserve the same connection to the world as the residents of urban areas.
As a part of their commitment to rural communities across the country, FRS provides annual grants for communities served by NTCA. The goal of the program is to support local efforts to build and sustain a high-quality of life in rural America. Each year, grants are awarded up to $5,000 each.
Applicants must be within the Rainbow Communications area and receive a letter of recommendation from Rainbow. Applications are due by Sept. 15, and preference is given to those whose could be fully funded by the grant maximum of $5,000 or have 75 percent or more of the project currently funded, be broadband enabled and technology focused projects.
