He was born Feb. 6, 1940, at Woodlawn, the son of Emery and Mae Bentley Campbell. He graduated from Sabetha High School in 1959.
Lyle had worked for the telephone company in Hiawatha and Holton for a total of 43 years. He started as a lineman and retired as a network technician.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Emery Lee Campbell and Wilbur Campbell.
Survivors include three sons, Allen (Kathy) Campbell of Topeka, and Richard Campbell and Wesley (Jodie) Campbell, all of Holton; a daughter, Sandra Silver of Holton; two brothers, Donald (Nancy) Campbell of St. Joseph, Mo., and Ramon Campbell of Colorado; three sisters, Hazel Sibold of Sabetha; Wilma Leuthold of Lawrence, and Melba (Roy) King of Atchison; a sister-in-law, Darlene Campbell of Sabetha; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Lyle will lie in state at the funeral home where family and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29.
