Brown County Commission 5.31.2018
The Board of Brown County Commissioners met in regular session Thursday, May 31. Members present were Chairman Steve Roberts, Dwight A. Kruse and Keith Olsen. Also present were County Clerk Melissa Gormley and Deputy County Clerk Dawn Boyles. County Attorney Kevin Hill was present for a portion of the meeting. Steve Roberts opened the meeting at 8:10 a.m.
The commissioners held a 15-minute executive session on non-elected personnel with the three commissioners and Hill present to discuss personnel matters of non elected personnel with executive session necessary to protect privacy interests. No binding action was taken following the executive session.
Civil Engineer Gene Petersen with Cook, Flat and Strobel was present to discuss the annual bridge inspection with the commissioners.
Window Service Manager Corey Gorman with Bob’s Janitorial Service and Supply, Inc., quoted the commissioners for window cleaning at the courthouse.
Brown County Undersheriff Randy Linck reported there are 25 inmates — 17 males and eight females — currently at the Brown County Jail.

The May 31, 2018 month-end claims were approved as follows: General, $85,435.67; Road and Bridge, $380,450.11; Historical Society, $4,166.66; Employee Benefit, $69,254.37; Election, $550.77; Extension, $8,150; Mental Health, $5,850; Developmental Services, $2,254.33; Conservation, $6,511.50; Appraiser, $308.24; Ambulance, $9,684.64; Noxious Weed, $21,119.96; Diversion, $928.80; 911 SB50, $2,206.46; ACC, $2,451.71; JJCR, $2,970.71; Reinvestment Grant, $2,789.85; Services for Elderly, $3,507.57; Solid Waste, $44,357.44; and Payroll, $330.33. The total was $653,279.12.
The May 23, 2018 payroll was approved as follows: General, $66,749.76; Road and Bridge, $12,540.55; Election, $1,665.78; Technology, $866.69; Appraiser, $5,353.57; Noxious Weed, $2,022.25; ACC, $9,089.03; JJA Core, $10,751.73; Reinvestment Grant, $3,022.77; Services for Elderly, $2,613; Solid Waste, $3,222.50; Special MVT, $4,221.80; Special MVT, $2,580.01; Employee Benefits FICA, $7,538.70; and Employee Benefits KPERS, $8,982.51.After State Unemployment and Workers Compensation of $143.16 and Insurance of $9,556.51 were taken out the total was $131,520.98.
The commissioners approved the minutes from the May 21 meeting.
The next regular meeting was held Monday, June 4. These minutes were not available at The Herald’s press time.
