Georgia Jean (Morris) Windle, 85, of Sabetha, died peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Sabetha Manor.
She was born near Humboldt, Neb., on Nov. 17, 1932, to Carl and Ella (Wagoner) Morris. Prior to her graduation from Bern High School in 1950, Georgia attended country school.
On May 29, 1955, Georgia married Donald “Buck” Windle in Bern. The couple established their home in the rural Sabetha area before moving to town in 1966. To this union, eight children were born.
She never was one to shy away from work. She held various jobs prior to her marriage and the birth of her children. Once her and Buck’s children were older, Georgia returned to working as a caregiver at various nursing homes around Sabetha until she retired from Cobblestone Court in 1999.
In her free time, Georgia enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo and will be remembered for her infectious laugh that couldn’t be contained. Georgia was a great baker and often had baked goods for family and friends for birthdays or holidays.
She is survived by her husband, Donald “Buck” Windle of the home; children, Debbie (Andy) Trent, Roger (Susan) Windle, Tanya (Rusty) Zeigler, Kim (Jeff) Feighner, Scott Windle (fiancé, Rose Twitty); 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Denise) Morris Jr.; and a sister, Betty Kindle.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; infant children, Donnie and Gina; a daughter, Sandra; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter, both at birth.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha. Memorials are suggested in her name and may be sent in care of Popkess Mortuaries, 823 Virginia St. Sabetha, KS 66534.
