Sabetha Red defeats Sabetha Blue in doubleheader

The Northeast Kansas Softball League started their season Friday, June 1. Sabetha Red and Sabetha Blue started the season off with a game at home. After multiple lead changes, the Sabetha Red would win both games, 15-10 in game one and 15-7 in game two.

Game one

Both teams tallied two runs in the first inning, but Sabetha Blue took the first lead when they scored one run in the second. Sabetha Red came back in the third, scoring five runs and pulling ahead to clinch the lead. Sabetha Red would end up winning game one 15-10.

Sabetha Blue was led offensively by Trista Argabright, who went four for four at the plate, tallying three RBIs and three runs. Brooklyn Bauman and Mariah Russell also tallied two RBIs apiece.

Sabetha Red was led offensively by Hillary Krebs and Maggi Hughes, who each went three for four at the plate, while tallying two RBIs apiece. Amelia Martin and Mahalie Allen also went two for four at the plate, with Martin tallying four RBIs and Allen tallying three.

Sabetha Red took the early lead in the first inning — scoring six runs — compared to Sabetha Blue scoring three. Sabetha Red maintained their lead, scoring another five in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth. Sabetha Blue scored an additional two in the third and two in the fourth.

Sabetha Blue was led offensively by Argabright, who went two for two at the plate and scoring three runs.

Sabetha Red was led offensively by Sofia Kuenzi, Emily Poe and Allen, who each went two for four at the plate. Allen also tallied three RBIs.

Sabetha Blue will travel to Onaga on Friday, June 8. Sabetha Red will travel to Hiawatha on Friday, June 8. Both teams will have doubleheaders and will begin at 6 p.m.
