Morrill City Council 5.21.18

The Morrill City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 21, with members Dan Halstead, Todd Gruber and Kevin Wikle present. Mayor Roger Price presided. Also present was Superintendent Lee Wymer.
Minutes and vouchers were approved. Mark Backer said he would be interested in the vacant council position. The matter was discussed.
Robert Wahwasuck’s resignation was approved. It was decided to contact the write-ins from the last election to see if anyone would be interested in filling the position before making a decision.
Mentioned was the court had ruled in favor of Mike Salter. It was decided to get more information concerning landlords signing a contract for service for a renter and to see if the city can refuse service if all parties don’t sign.
The matter of advertising the sale of the digger derrick truck was tabled after finding the city has a year to be in compliance with the Department of Labor.
All ordinance changes were approved. It was decided to have the code enforcement officer attend the next meeting to address removal of the old trailer house and other violations.
Wymer said he had taken the scrap iron collected from the clean up day to Hiawatha and sold it.
Reviewed was the delinquent account list, finding no one will be shut off.
It was decided to contact the city attorney to see if council can go into executive session to discuss the appointment of the vacant council position.
