Lobos fall to Baldwin City

After winning their first series of the season, the Sabetha Lobos welcomed the Baldwin City Blues to town on Monday, June 4. When the Lobos struggled to get runners around the bases, the Blues would win the game 8-0.

Both teams remained scoreless in the first three innings, but Baldwin City would finally score two runs in the fourth inning on a couple of base hits. The Blues also tallied a homerun in the sixth which drove in another two runs.

The Lobos offense struggled against Baldwin City’s defense who didn’t allow more than four batters to step up to the plate throughout the first five innings. Trae Bobo got the Lobos’ first hit in the fifth innings when he tallied a double. Baldwin City extended their lead another four runs in the ninth, while Sabetha remained scoreless. The Blues would win 8-0.

Bobo, Luis Samayoa, Luis Quiñones and Aaron Fuller each tallied a hit for the Lobos during the game.

Junior Figueroa started on the mound for the Lobos. He pitched the first six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, while walking four batters and striking out three.

Diego Martinez came in on relief. He pitched two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, while striking out three batters and walking one.

Martinez was relieved by Michael Colon, who pitched the final inning. He surrendered four runs on three hits, while striking out one batter and walking one.
