Lobos finish 2-1 in series with Topeka

The Sabetha Lobos met up with the Topeka Golden Giants this past week for a three game series – one game at home and two away. Thursday’s game was canceled due to rain and rescheduled for Friday at 3:45 p.m., making Friday a double header. After all three games, the Lobos would win the series 2-1.

Game one

The Lobos traveled to Topeka Friday, June 22, for doubleheader action. Both teams scored one run in the first inning, but it was Topeka who would pull ahead in the second — scoring two runs, while Sabetha only scored one. Both teams remained scoreless in the third, but Sabetha took the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs.

Topeka tied it up in the fifth, scoring one run, but the Lobos fought back and regained control in the sixth, scoring three runs on a home run by Eddy Pimentel. In the seventh and final inning, Topeka managed only one run, which allowed Sabetha to claim the first win of the series by a score of 7-5.

Pimentel led Sabetha offensively, going two for four at the plate, scoring one run and driving in four RBIs.

Dalton VanHoutan pitched the first six innings for the Lobos. He surrendered five runs on six hits, while striking out five batters and walking six.
