Sabetha Blue defeats Onaga, Hiawatha

Sabetha Blue welcomed Onaga and Hiawatha to town Friday, June 22. After Sabetha Blue’s games against Hiawatha were canceled earlier in the season, they decided to play one game against Onaga and one against Hiawatha, while Sabetha Red did the same thing on another field. Sabetha Blue jumped out to an early lead and would hold onto the leads in both games to win them both.

Onaga

Sabetha took a big lead in the first inning, scoring seven runs, while Onaga remained scoreless in the first. Onaga finally got on the board in the second inning with two runs.

Sabetha’s offense started again in the third with one run scored and another run scored in the fourth. Sabetha extended their lead in the fifth with an additional five runs. Sabetha would win 14-3.

Trista Argabright went two for four at the plate, scoring two runs and tallying five RBIs. Argabright also hit a double during the game.

Kylie Meredith also went two for four at the plate, scoring two runs and tallying one RBI. Meredith also hit a double during the game.

Brooklyn Bauman went three for four batting, scoring two runs and driving in one RBI.

Rachel Kramer pitched the entire game for Sabetha. She allowed three runs on three hits, while striking out seven batters and walking one.

Hiawatha

Sabetha played well on both offense and defense in their game against Hiawatha. They got on the board first with two runs in the first and extended their lead in the each of the remaining innings, all while holding Hiawatha scoreless until the fourth when Hiawatha scored one run. Hiawatha scored another two runs in the fifth, but the damage was done and Sabetha would win the second game of the night 13-3.

Bauman led Sabetha offensively, going two for three at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in two RBIs. Hattie Lukert and Jordie Geist also tallied two RBIs during the game. Kramer hit a double during the game.

Kramer pitched the entire game for Sabetha. She allowed three runs on one hit, while striking out 10 batters and walking four.
