Brown County Sheriff is seeking Hiawatha man

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Horton Police Department are requesting the public’s assistance in locating Charles Barrand — a 5-foot, 10-inch white male weighing approximately 195 pounds. Barrand is from Hiawatha.

Barrand fled on foot in the vicinity of West Ninth in Horton when officers attempted to locate him. Barrand was last seen wearing khaki shorts and teal colored polo shirt.

Searches are ongoing in that part of Horton, with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Horton Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and other assisting agencies.

Barrand is a suspect of recent criminal activity in Hiawatha, and he also has an arrest and detain order for violation of parole.

If located, please call the Horton Police, Brown County Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement at once.

Update: BCSO took Barrand into custody on Tuesday afternoon, July 3.
