Sabetha splits with Corning

The Sabetha Raptors traveled to Corning on Wednesday, June 27, for doubleheader action. The Raptors would end up splitting with Corning after winning the first game and losing the second.

Game One

The Raptors took the lead in the first inning and would not give it up. They scored three runs in the first inning, one in the third and two in the fourth. They added four runs in the fifth and an additional two in the sixth, while Corning only managed to score one run in the second and three in the fourth. The Raptors won the first game, 12-4.

Blake Frey led the Raptors offensively, going three for three at the plate, while scoring two runs and tallying one RBIs. Seth Burdick and Mason Spellmeier each tallied one hit and two RBIs during the game.

Game two

Sabetha took the quick lead again in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning. The Raptors’ defense slipped in the second inning, allowing Corning to score seven runs. Sabetha continued to slowly close the gap but could not regain the lead. Corning won game two, 9-8.

Braden Argabright went two for four at the plate, scoring one run. Spellmeier and Kamden Brownlee each tallied one hit, one run and two RBIs during the nightcap game.
