C.J. Foods hosts ‘Paws for a Cause’ 5K to benefit CAPS

On Monday, July 2, James Johnson presents proceeds of Paws for a Cause to Mary Ryan, director of Community Animal Protection Society (CAPS). Sponsorships and donations raised $1,400, and C.J. Foods matched all funds raised for a total of $2,800 donated to CAPS.

On Saturday, June 23, C.J. Foods held their first annual Paws For a Cause 5K Run/Walk in Bern. The proceeds for this race went to the Sabetha Community Animal Protection Society (CAPS) who help animals in need within the Sabetha Community.

Forty runners braved the light rain to run/walk the course along with their four-legged friends. Trophies and prizes were given to the Top Overall Male, Top Overall Female and Top Three Canines.

Winners were Richard Jackson, Top Overall Male and Julie Kuckelman, Top Overall Female. The Top Three canines received prize bags from Bern-Sabetha Veterinary Clinic. Certificates were also presented to the top runners in each age category, and finisher medals were given to each runner/walker.

Afterward, runners enjoyed water and fruit provided by C.J. Foods while the four-legged runners enjoyed doggie ice cream.

On Monday, July 2, James Johnson attended the monthly CAPS meeting to present the proceeds from the race. Sponsorships and donations raised $1,400, and C.J. Foods generously matched all funds raised for a total of $2,800. The race was sponsored by Nature’s Logic, Lortscher Animal Nutrition Inc., Agritrade International LLC, Bern Sabetha Veterinary Clinic, Rawz, Bern Oil Company, AHRS Construction and Seneca Dental P.A.
