4-H Club News: Stateliners

Submitted by Maddy Mosteller, Club Reporter

The June meeting of the Stateliners 4-H Club was called to order by President Helen Krehbiel at 7 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the Bern Community Building. Lane Mosteller and Jenny Edelman led us in the Flag Salute, 4-H Pledge and Motto. J. Edelman led us in singing “B-I-N-G-O.” Amanda Krehbiel called roll, asking members to tell what their birth date is. A. Krehbiel read the minutes of the May meeting.

Luke Renyer gave the Treasurer’s Report, stating that without any expenses or deposits, the balance was the same as last meeting. Reporter Maddy Mosteller said she had sent in the April and May reports to The Sabetha Herald and Seneca Courier-Tribune. Rachel Krehbiel gave a Parliamentary Report, telling us why meeting order is important and useful.

Leah Renyer gave the 4-H Council report. Topics covered at 4-H Council were: fairgrounds cleanup night, stepping stones project for landscaping at the Community building, foodstand meal preparation before fair and consultation judging updates. Mary Renyer reminded us that fair entries are due Monday, July 2, and wished us good luck at fair.

During committee reports, families discussed what date and time would be good for our club tour. The club decided Friday, July 20, in the early evening would be the best choice. There was no old or new Business to come before the club.

The June Program was a demonstration from J. Edelman showing us how to do paper quilting. She showed some of the exhibits she made with paper quilting and that she will be taking to the fair in Arts and Crafts. A. Krehbiel presented a demonstration on no-bake cookies, which looked really yummy! J. Edelman led the club in playing Toilet Tag for recreation, a fun new game for us.

Announcements were: Fair pre-entry deadline is Monday, July 2; Fair consultation judging and consumer judging Wednesday, July 18; Fair set-up Wednesday, July 25, Nemaha County Fair – Friday, July 27, through Monday, July 30.

The Record Book challenge was to bring photos of project work for the record sheets. Refreshments were provided by the Renyer family.

The next meeting will be Club Tour in July, when we will travel to the club member’s homes and show our fair exhibits.
