Lobos fall in doubleheader to Monarchs

The Sabetha Lobos traveled to Liberty, Mo., to play their final games of the 2018 season. The Monarchs’ defense was strong during both games and held the Lobos to five hits in both games to claim both wins.

Game one

In game one, the Lobos got on the board in the first inning with one run on a single by Aaron Fuller. The Monarchs fought back and scored two runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning.

The Lobos struggled getting runners on base in the second, third and fourth innings, which resulted in no runs scored during those innings. The Lobos scored one more run in the fifth inning, but the Monarchs extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth by four runs and then by another two in the sixth.

The Monarchs won, 12-2, after six innings.

Juan Perdomos started on the mound for the Lobos, throwing 1-1/3 innings. He allowed four runs on one hit, while striking out two batters and walking four.

Michael Colón came in on relief, throwing 2-2/3 innings. He surrendered six runs on three hits, while striking out two batters and walking nine.

Colón was relieved by Charley Harbor, who pitched the final 1-1/3 innings He allowed two runs on two hits, while striking out two batters and walking two.

Game two

The Monarchs’ offense and defense were strong throughout the entire game. They got on the board immediately with two runs scored in the first, six in the second and another two in the third.

The Monarchs held Sabetha to just five hits and zero runs scored. The Monarchs would win the second game, 10-0, after just five innings.

Timo Schau would start on the mound for the Lobos. He threw two full innings, surrendering eight runs on five hits, while striking out four batters and walking four.

Juan Perdomos came in on relief, throwing just 11 pitches. He allowed two runs on one hit, while walking one batter.

Perdomos was relieved by Ivan Medina, who pitched the final two innings. He allowed zero runs on one hit, while walking three batters.

The Lobos finished the 2018 season with a record of 9-21.
