Submitted by Betty Bergman
Nemaha County Farm Bureau will be holding its Annual Meeting on Monday, Aug. 20, at the Nemaha County Community building in Seneca, beginning with a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Our guest speaker for the evening will be Ryan Flickner, who serves as the senior director of public policy for Kansas Farm Bureau. He came to Farm Bureau in 2013 after spending more than six years on the staff of U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, five of which were spent in Washington, D.C., working on agriculture and related policy issues.
Flickner is a native Kansan, born in Abilene. He graduated from Maize High School and attended K-State, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in agronomy and natural resources. While at K-State, he was elected by his peers as K-State Ambassador, interned for the United States Department of Agriculture’s White House Liaison Office in Washington, D.C., as well as the USDA NRCS field office in Republic County.
He is actively engaged in a family farming business near Moundridge. He, his wife Laura, and their sons Owen and Miles live in Manhattan. In his free time, Flickner enjoys spending time with his family as well as participating in snow and water sports, including scuba diving.
Reservations can be made by calling the Seneca office at 785-336-2341 or the Sabetha office at 785-300-0700.
