Morrill City Council 7.16.18

The Morrill City Council met in regular session on Monday, July 16, with members Dan Halstead, Todd Gruber, Kevin Wikle, Greg Duryea and Robert Baumgartner present and Mayor Roger Price presiding. Superintendent Lee Wymer also was present.
Minutes and vouchers were approved.
Charlie Gruber said the Chamber of Commerce would like to have the street on the west side of the park closed during Morrill Days for a tractor show. All were in favor of closing the street. C. Gruber also invited the governing body to the upcoming Firemen’s Picnic. After discussion of a fire truck that needs tires, council members approved the purchase of two tires.
Council approved sending a notice to a landowner and the renter of the water to be shut off within 10 days if a sewer violation is not repaired.
Reviewed was the Kansas Open Records Act, finding utility bills are open to the public. No personal information is allowed to be given out.
Council approved a building permit with four council members in favor. One member abstained due to a personal conflict.
The clerk mentioned the findings of the court hearings.
Wymer said an individual would like the city to haul a load of rock for them to be paid for by the individual. It was decided the individual should have someone else haul the rock.
After discussion of a plugged drain tube at the elevator, it was decided Wymer should give the elevator the City of Sabetha’s contact information to possibly hire them to clean out the tube.
It was decided to shut off 10 services if payments are not made by the July 20.
