The Sabetha Chamber of Commerce board meeting was called to order Monday, Aug. 6, by the Chamber’s president, Dayra Menold. Other members present were Cindy Alderfer, Caitlin Kelch, Brandy Meyer, Brendon Garrett, Julie Burenheide, Marlene Bosworth and Gina Murchison.
The chamber approved the minutes and accepted the financial reports. The financial statement was placed on file for audit.
The chamber welcomed two new Chamber Members, The Creative Farmhouse and Brick Street Furniture Co. and Wine Lounge. A ribbon cutting is schedule for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, for the grand opening of Brick Street Furniture Co. and Wine Lounge. Refreshments will be served.
Bring Back the Owl: The paper work is done and the account is set up and available online for the “Bring Back the Owl” fund. Coming soon are the details about the “Be Wise Shop Sabetha!” Campaign.
Sabetha Rodeo Parade: The Sabetha Rodeo Parade was on July 21. The winners of the float contest are first place, Edelmans Home Center, $100; second place, Nemaha County Step Foundation, $75; third place, The Girl Cave Boutique, $50. We had more than 65 entries and the parade lasted about an hour.
Website Committee: Dave Remmers has sold his business to Outdoor Resources in Manhattan. He does not expect any down time for our website. He also said the maintenance fee will stay the same. Murchison is going to contact Outdoor Resources and see what kind of sites they have available.
Old Time Saturday Night: OTSN is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. Edelmans Home Center is sponsoring the Hay Bale Toss. They will be providing a fork lift, pallet, four hay bales and a driver. C and K Service is sponsoring the Tire Race. C and K Service is providing two different size tires for the men’s and women’s race.
Window Opening Theme and Ladies Night Out: The theme for Ladies Night Out and Window Opening 2018 is “Holly Jolly Christmas.”
U.S. Highway 36 Treasure Hunt and Sabetha’s Fall Garage Sales: The garage sales will be Sept. 14-16. Registration forms are available at City Hall or sabethachamber.com.
Trick-or-Treat on Main Street: Please save the date! Trick-or-Treat on Main Street will be Oct. 31. Begin with Spooktacular Story Time at the Mary Cotton Library Park at 4 p.m. and Trick-or-Treating on Main Street from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Postcards: Our postcards are very outdated. Murchison has contacted Kris Castillo about the Sabetha High School photography class designing several new postcards for us.
The next meeting will be at noon Monday, Sept. 10. Board Elections will be at the next meeting. We meet in the small commission room at City Hall. Everyone is invited. We encourage new, fresh ideas.
