SHS Tennis: Lady Jays compete at Hayden

The Lady Jays tennis team traveled to Hayden Thursday, Aug. 30, to take on Hayden, Baldwin and Saint James. Although they didn’t place as a team, Head Coach Alicia Deters said the team learned a lot.

“We played a tough opponent,” she said. “The girls stayed strong and we learned a lot. I think a lot of the girls learned that they had to really stand strong when keeping score.”

Senior Ashten Halls played number one singles for Sabetha. She went 1-2 for the day, defeating Baldwin and falling to Saint James and Hayden.

Seniors Kirsten Wenger and Brooklyn Bauman played number one doubles for Sabetha. They also went 1-2 during the meet, beating Baldwin and falling to Saint James and Hayden.

Representing Sabetha in number two singles was junior Rachel Kramer. She went 0-3 for the day.

Junior Hannah Wertenberger and Kinsey Menold played in the number two doubles for the Jays. They went 1-2 for the day, defeating Baldwin and losing in tough matches to Saint James and Hayden.

The Lady Jays will travel to Seaman Wednesday, Sept. 5, for their next meet.
