Obituary: Stephen Larabee
Stephen Ray Larabee, 61, of Horton died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
He was born May 3, 1957, in Sabetha, the son of Alvin and Nellie (Sanders) Larabee. He was a truck driver, having worked for Koch Trucking, Keim Trucking and as a delivery driver for Lowe’s in Topeka. In recent years, he had worked at Autos-4-U as a salesman.
Stephen was a member of First Baptist Church of Hiawatha and also attended Kahbeah Chapel. He enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church, and he even would go play weekly at the Manor in Horton for the residents. Stephen also enjoyed dirt track racing and even sponsored cars.
Survivors include a daughter, Sondra (Jeremy) Anderson of Horton; son, Brian (Miranda) Larabee of Hiawatha; brother, Don (Becky) Larabee of Houston, Texas; sister Bonnie (Alvin) Ralph of Topeka; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Travis Larabee; and brother, Melvin Larabee.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, with Rev. Ryan Vanpeursem officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Atchison. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Hiawatha and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
