KCA tags Michael as 2017-18 Coach of the Year for 11-man football

The Kansas Coaches Association has announced their 2017-18 Coach of the Year selections, and a Sabetha coach and a Centralia coach with Sabetha ties have been selected.

Sabetha High School’s head football coach, Garrett Michael, has been selected as the 11-Man Football Coach of the Year.

The Bluejays collected a State Title during the 2017 season, defeating Marysville 7-6 in the title game. They finished 13-1 overall and 7-1 in the Big Seven League.

Michael has been coaching at Sabetha since 1997, and is now in his 10th season as the head coach.

SHS graduate Kimbrook Tennal has been selected at the Volleyball Coach of the Year. Tennal’s Centralia High School volleyball team sported a 43-1 record and a State Title during the 2017 season, in 1A-DI.

Tennal has been coaching at Centralia since 1997, and is in his 11th season as head coach. He was inducted into the Kansas Volleyball Association Hall of Fame in 2017.
