Galen Stuart Lay, 70, of Hiawatha, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Hiawatha Community Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1948, in Herington, to Stuart Clifton and Selena Mae Langhofer Lay.
On Jan. 8, 1971, Galen married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Razor, in Newton. Together they raised three sons, of whom he was very proud.
Galen is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Troy (Sheri) of Sabetha, Jeremey (Jo) of Pacific, Mo., and Brian (Kathryn) of Naperville, Ill; 10 grandchildren, Leighanne, Jessica, Kelsie, Bryson, Paige, Aubrey, Lexi, McKenna, Drew and Molly; five great-grandchildren, Kenton, Addyson, Dean, Evan and Oaklie; and brothers, Craig and Tom Lay.
Preceding Galen in his death were his father Stuart Lay; mother Selena Lay; and infant brother, Charles.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.
Memorial contributions have been chosen to benefit the Brown County Humane Society. Galen was very fond and supportive of the service that they provide to animals and community of Brown County. Contributions can be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
