Governing Body: Brown County Commission
The Board of Brown County Commissioners met on Monday, Dec. 17, with the following members present: Chairman Steve Roberts, Dwight Kruse and Keith Olsen. Also present were County Clerk Melissa Gormley and Deputy County Clerk Dawn Boyles. County Attorney Kevin Hill was present for a portion of the meeting.
Doug Miller, representative with AKE Safety Equipment was present to demonstrate a line of gas fire extinguishers AKE Safety Equipment has to offer. Also participating in the demonstration were Sheriff John Merchant and Undersheriff Randy Linck. They are a dry fire extinguisher, and there is no maintenance. The Sheriff’s Department would require 10 fire extinguishers. The cost of the high capacity unit is $900 each, and AKE would supply 13 units for the price of 10. Merchant stated he does not have the funds in his budget, but would like to look into the matter again next year.
Gary Satter, Glacial Hills director, updated commissioners on various projects and requested funding in the amount of $3,000. Commissioners approved $3,000 in funding.
Sheriff Merchant reported there are 22 inmates — 17 males and five females — currently at the Brown County Jail.

Tax Change Orders 2018-25 and 2018-26 were signed and approved.
The commissioners’ next meeting will be held on Friday, Dec. 28.
