Say cheers to the British Isles in 2020
Submitted by Pete Schuetz
After traveling to Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2018 with 31 intrepid explorers from Sabetha this past summer, a new adventure is in the works for the summer of 2020!
When surveying students and adventurous citizens of Sabetha, the overwhelming choice of people who were asked culled toward the decision to make a trip to Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Ireland!
The trip begins in Shannon as we work our way around the Emerald Isle’s natural beauty before a visit to Blarney Castle and then onto the historic charm of Dublin.
From Dublin, we take a ferry to Wales for a visit to the city with the longest name in the world, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch!
From there we travel by bus through the Lake District, making our way to Edinburgh, Scotland, which is renowned world-wide for its history, architecture, scenery and cultural attractions. Stops include Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Old Town, and others.
From Edinburgh, we take the train to the historic and fabled, yet cosmopolitan city of London. Here we spend two nights and explore the city by visiting Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and many others.
This is an 11-day trip with the potential to extend the adventure by two days by visiting the city of Bath, by way of a stop at Stonehenge, before traveling to Stratford-upon-Avon to walk in the footsteps of the Bard of Avon, William Shakespeare!
An informational meeting will be held at Sabetha Middle School at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, for all those who are interested in this trip of a lifetime. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would still like to see the details, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
