CLUB NEWS: Reavis-Ashley Chapter D.A.R.

Reavis-Ashley Chapter D.A.R. met at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, for a luncheon at the Colonial Acres activity room Humboldt, Neb. Dawn Feldkamp was hostess. Luncheon prayer was given by Bev Droge. Seven members and one guest were present.
Regent Glenda Nelson opened the business meeting with the D.A.R. ritual. The Pledge of Allegiance and American’s Creed were recited. President General’s message was read by Droge. Feldkamp gave the treasurer’s report. Minutes were read by Anne Moser in absence of secretary Ann Smith. National Defense minutes, Run for the Wall was given by Feldkamp.
Droge gave the Indian minutes reporting on Winnebago Indians from the Indian Nations of North America article. She also gave the flag minutes reporting on how the flag is displayed in mourning. Droge passed cards for members to sign for soldiers.
Connie Pletner, chairman of Service to America, sent a reminder to turn in hours of volunteer work from May to December 2018.
Nelson gave a list provided by Nebraska State Chairman of DAR Project Patriot for active military. She suggested to send a card to those listed. Flag certificates for business of citizens who have proper display of flags are available, along with certificates, that can be given.
Leota Uhri made a barn quilt ornament for the D.A.R. tree and sent it to the chairman. Essays have been picked up from Falls City fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades to be judged.
The 117th State Conference will be March 27 through 30, 2019. Delegates from Reavis-Ashley Chapter will be Nelson and Moser. Alternate Delegates are Sue Rottman and Kacy Fledkamp.
Program was presented by Feldkamp on Women’s Suffrage 1918-20 and in particular in Nebraska in 1917.
The next meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the home of hostess Anne Moser.
