On Friday, Jan. 4, the Wetmore High School cheerleaders performed a routine with the Cardinal Cuties — a group of elementary students ranging in grade from preschool to fifth grade, who were divided into two groups.

The younger Cuties, preschool to second grade, danced to the song “Jingle Bell Rock” along with cheerleaders Lauryn Scott, Campbell Brown, Madison Boeckman and Ashley Flowers. Middle school student Rylie Nichols, a past Cardinal Cutie, was asked to come back and help with this group’s performance.

The older Cuties, third to fifth grade, performed a routine to “All I Want for Christmas is You” with the help of Austin Smith, Ally Davis, Sophia Samano and Abby Shumaker.

Performing with the Cardinal Cuties are Destinie Hidalgo and Chloe Hutfles.

Faith Bloom was the middle school helper with this group and said, “I felt really special to be a Cardinal Cutie alumni, and being able to come back and help the younger kids made me happy.”

Dec. 28 was the practice day for these routines and included many activities. The day started with games and learning the start of the routine, then snacks were served and crafts were made. Toward the end of the day, the dances were reviewed, and new cheers were taught.

The Wetmore High School Cardinal cheerleaders are sponsored by kindergarten teacher Anissa Bloom.
