Morrill City Council 1.21.2019

The Morrill City Council met in regular session on Monday, Jan. 21, with members Todd Gruber, Kevin Wikle, Brad Stolzenberger and Dan Halstead present. Mayor Roger Price presided.
Minutes and vouchers were approved.
Fire Chief Charlie Gruber stated the fire department would like to purchase some new equipment, which will cost between $1,050 and $1,100. It was approved to make those purchases.
The council accepted Robert Baumgartner’s resignation.
It was approved to allow Superintendent Lee Wymer to attend the water conference.
Permission was given to allow Kansas Gas Service to use the city’s backhoe if needed in the event of an emergency.
After discussion of repairs needed on the digger derrick truck, council members approved having the repairs done.
Halstead instructed Supt. Wymer to call the City of Sabetha for assistance with some maintenance that needs to be done.
It was found the city’s brick storage building has structural problems. It was decided to tear down the shed.
Reviewed was a house demolition contract with some changes that would need to be made to meet the city’s needs.
Reviewed was the delinquent account list. Council members decided to shut off four services if payments are not made.
It was approved to allow city employees to have Martin Luther King Day off, adding the holiday to the existing list of holidays.
