Sabetha Kids Wrestling: Local youth compete in state wrestling tournament

Six wrestlers from the Sabetha Kids Wrestling Club competed in the Kansas Kids State Folk Style Wrestling 2019 Championship held in Topeka on Sunday, March 17.

Competing in the tournament were Taylor Delome, Sabetha Elementary School fifth grade; Nakita Lawrence, Sabetha Middle School sixth grade; Kylie Meredith, Sabetha High School sophomore; Dennis Mortorff, SMS sixth grade; Dalton Rokey, SMS seventh grade; and Josh Herrmann, SMS eighth grade.

Delome placed second in 10 and under girls, 139 to 153 pounds.

Meredith placed second in high school girls, 192 to 211 pounds.

Lawrence took fifth place in 12 and under girls, 97 to 107 pounds.

Mortorff competed in the 12 and under 80 pound competition, but did not place in the top six.

Rokey competed in the 12 and under 150 pound competition, but did not place in the top six.

Herrmann competed in the 14 and under 150 pound competition, but did not place in the top six.
