Treasure seekers gear up for annual hunt
If you are looking for something to do next weekend, mark your calendars for the 14th annual U.S. Highway 36 Treasure Hunt. The annual garage sale event will be held Friday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, Sept. 22, and stretches border to border east and west across Kansas.
This is more than 400 miles across of antique and garage sales from the Missouri border to Colorado border. Twenty-eight towns will participate this year.
In conjunction with the U.S. Highway 36 Treasure Hunt, the City of Sabetha will have its Citywide Garage Gales.
A local map will be published in the Sept. 18 edition of The Sabetha Herald. Local maps also can be downloaded from the Chamber’s website at www.sabethachamber.com. For maps from other cities, visit www.ushwy36.com.
The deadline for a sale to be included on the U.S. Highway 36 website is Sunday, Sept. 1. Individuals interested in having sales included on the local map may contact the Sabetha Chamber of Commerce by noon Friday, Sept. 13. The registration fee is $15, with a $5 refund granted when the yard sign is returned.
Registration forms are available at City Hall or can be downloaded from www.sabethachamber.com. If you have questions, contact the Chamber at 785-285-2139.
